<itunes:summary>As a kid, I never wanted to sing along when our music minister led the congregation in “Wherever He Leads, I’ll Go.” I just knew if I did, then God would send me to Africa. Bingo. Turns out childhood fears can be justified. Youve probably guessed from the title of this blog (Megan and Matt Go to Ghana) that I am, in fact, going to Africa. The great thing about God, though, is that he hasnt just told me to go to Africa; hes made me want to go. Not only that, but I dont have to go alone. Yes, true, I always have God with me. But I really like to have someone I can hold on to, which is why God, in his infinite wisdom, has given me a husband with a huge heart for missions.
Matt and Megan in Nalerigu, 2004
This July, Matt and I will be leaving our home in Knoxville, Tennessee, to spend about six months in Nalerigu, Ghana in West Africa. Matt, a surgery resident at UT Medical Center, will be taking advantage of UTs research year to work at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu. I’m a strictly nonmedical person, but I have all kinds of ideas and plans for my time abroad. You can check them out at my post, So, What Are You Going to Do, Megan? and on my website:

I’ve started this blog (my first) because so many people have already been asking for ways to keep up with us while we are gone. Well, folks, this is it. I’ll be posting a few updates on our preparation progress before we leave, but when we arrive in Ghana, the blogging will begin in earnest with photos and maybe even some sound clips. (I’ve always wanted to do radio like NPR; now’s my chance!)
In the meantime, we really appreciate your prayers and your personal interest. Come visit us, if you can. If you cant, well do our best to take you there through your computer screen.</itunes:summary>
