Red Mountain Writing is led by Megan Norris Jones who chose the name while living near Red Mountain in Birmingham, Alabama.
A Mississippi native now living in Knoxville, Tennessee, Jones has been with Red Mountain Writing full time since March 2008. Before that, she was a copy editor for Health. She has been published in Health, Parenting, Southern Lady, Mississippi Magazine, and Tennessee Medicine, among others, and has been a frequent contributor to The Alabama Baptist and East Tennessee Medical News. During her time with Red Mountain Writing, Jones has written and edited for the accreditation process at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and developed newsletters for organizations such as Citizens for Educational Freedom and the University of Tennessee Resident Spouse Alliance.
While majoring in English and international studies at the University of Mississippi, Jones founded Hyperbole literary magazine, and as a graduate journalism student at the University of Missouri, she worked as executive assistant for the Missouri Association of Publications and interned with Parenting in New York.
